Business as Usual Part II — Canadian Thanksgiving Gratitude Edition   Leave a comment

So, didn’t make a diary entry yesterday.. And haven’t made a blog post in months… my life has been kinda like that..

Well, it was lower body weights in the morning, and some more of Apollon’s oboe in the afternoon, Medea and Clytemnestra and long-tailed hamsters for a bit after that, and out the door and lovely work till 2 in the morning, stopped at 7-11 on the way and bought a bag of cheesies and a Peanut Oh Henry and ate them on the way up.. All unmindful of the book I’ve been reading (The Great American Health Hoax).

Sugar crash happened about 7:15 and I was out like a light for 5 – 10 minutes. Not good.

Had some rather interesting words with Jebediah, a former mechanic on staff who had to quit his trade due to health issues … talking about current events, learned from him that under Bill C50 — the Canadian anti-terror legislation — you can indeed be arrested at any time on suspicion you will commit a terrorist act, and be held incommunicado for 7 days… He mentioned a couple of book titles, Strangers in Their Own Land by Arlie Russell Hochschild and What’s the Matter with Kansas? by one Thomas Frank… He also told me to have a look at Craig Forcese and … Hopped over there and found:

“As I write this, bill C-22 is being debated in the House of Commons, [kinda gather it’s an amplification of C50—RH] on second reading. Once that debate concludes, the bill will be referred to the relevant House of Commons committee”

And muttered to myself in frustration “Why isn’t there ever a date on these stupid things? … found it, at the bottom of the article: “September 27, 2016”. Fairly recent for a change. I’ll have a better look at this website later.

Somehow though, the words of Gandalf in “The Shadow of the Past” seem terribly relevant:

“To tell you the truth,’ replied Gandalf, ‘I believe that hitherto — hitherto, mark you — he has entirely overlooked the existence of hobbits. You should be thankful. But your safety has passed. He does not need you — he has many more useful servants — but he won’t forget you again. And hobbits as miserable slaves would please him far more than hobbits happy and free.”

Substitute “The average working schlep” — that’s you and me, gentle readers — for “hobbits” and “The powers that be” for “Sauron” — because that’s who Gandalf was alluding to — And you’ve got our present situation. Jebediah suggested the real reason for 9/11 and the ensuing anti-terror legislation was to set the stage for implementing broad government powers… Not because of terrorism… but to intervene and maintain control of out-of-control populations as the environmental collapse advances — 2016 was the hottest summer on record folks — and food gets short…

An important factoid very conveniently neglected: Civilization at any point in time, is about 24 hours and 2 meals away from total collapse.

He also mentioned since The Patriot Act, legislation has been promulgated giving Military Intelligence the authority to arrest and indefinitely detain anyone in America “on suspicion of terrorism”.. Guess Amerika finally has its own Gestapo.

Meanwhile I learned talking to a couple of people on staff that our Donald has really put his foot in it this time (or did so 11 years ago) and suddenly the Republican party — somewhat like Salome with John the Baptist —  is demanding his head on a platter. Wonder who they’ll replace him with, with a month to go? But really … who of us outside “the one essential nation” should care? It’s not as if any of us has a choice, and it’s not as if it matters in any event: The present American election is beyond Orwell’s art, and beyond Kafka’s also: A bumptious oaf on the Republican ticket, not nearly the clever businessman he pretends to be, and on the Democrat side? George W. in drag, a darling dangling bud … off a noxious bush. They have so many skeletons in their closet they have some trouble closing the door.

One of my favorite writers on the Internet, Kevin Flaherty of Cryptogon opined:

“I’m trying to understand this Trump situation and the hysterical freakout that’s ensuing in elite and media circles.
Trump could have been vote-frauded into oblivion by now.
Why hasn’t that happened?
My best guess is that the primary purpose of the Donald Trump candidacy — whether he knows it or not — is to escort Hillary to the White House by simply drawing attention away from the Clintons’ life of crime.
You know, so all of that doesn’t come up during the sElection.” March 8, 2016

Yeah I know “The Clinton Body Count” has been dismissed as so much slandering Republican horsepucky and a load of goofy conspiracy theory… debunked it for example. They debunk a great many things. Yet I seem to recall they then accidentally blurted out that “The Clinton Body Count” came to a whopping 320 pages, while  “The Bush Body Count” is only a miraculous 219.

Could have been somewhere else of course and I can’t be bothered to waste hours and days picking through the Internet trying to find it again.

Mr. Flaherty also opined… almost 10 years ago…

People are now terrified about the events unfolding inside the US.
Panic is setting in, and for some silly reason, people think this upcoming election holds the key to the future.
Guys, wake the F*** up. This Republican/Democrat thing is beyond embarrassing.

Please understand: there are no political solutions to the problems the US is facing. The outcome of this election is meaningless, one way or the other. The more you keep grasping for glimmers of hope within the political system, the worse off you will be. November 5, 2006

Hm.. Guy Fawkes’ Day.. and like 9/11, another infamous False Flag..

Be that as it may: That was written ten years ago Gentle Readers. Are any of you that naive, that you believe our situation has in any way improved since then? It hasn’t. I should add Kevin decamped from the good ol’ US of A quite some time ago and now makes his home on the North Island of New Zealand — about as far from America as you can get, without leaving the planet. Trouble is he, like the rest of us, still has to live on it with Leviathan thrashing about in his death throes.. I sadly doubt being far away will help all that much.

So it’s these sort of thoughts that have somewhat preoccupied me over the last few months as I watched a stupendous gift unfold — with some teething trouble — from my cousin Idril, tried to get sorted out from under the rubble thereof while (barely) keeping body and soul together, and wondered how I can continue the work on my own after firing the last contractor wgift-threeho after 6 weeks still hadn’t finished a job that should have taken him 3 days… and worked as meticulously as I can on Apollon’s oboe, which has got to have been the oddest oboe I have ever seen.. Well.. Close up, anyway.

And tomorrow evening, I will be at table with Medea and Clytemnestra at The Golden Perch, imbibing of the best beer in The Eastfarthing… and lovely GMO veggies, antibiotic-laced turkey, and HFCS pumpkin pie topped with petroleum-byproduct substitute whipping cream…

Reflecting — with genuine gratitude — just how damned much I/we truly have to be thankful for: We live in fortress North America. Despite what I wrote above, the one place in recorded history I’m aware of besides perhaps Australia and New Zealand, where the average person has the chance of a snowflake in Hell.

With any luck, for the time being it will remain in the present tense. And touch wood the pub-brewed draft at least should be pretty much unadulterated.

A la prochaine!
